One of the most infectious and fascinating musicians in popular music, four-time Grammy winner Lyle Lovett performs an intimate show in Duluth.

Tickets may be purchased at the DECC Box Office, by phone at 800-745-3000 or online at Ticketmaster.com starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 1.

Lovett has defined the modern Texas singer-songwriter by fusing blues, country, folk, gospel and jazz to create his own style of Americana. His unique voice and quirky compositions display a literary talent that brings together the trail blazed by great Texas storytellers like Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark with the crooked highway traveled by the likes of Randy Newman and Tom Waits.

His new album, Release Me represents the end of an era. It’s his last record for Curb/Universal Music Group after being on the label his entire career. The album mixes originals and covers that show not only the breadth of this Texas legend’s deep talents, but also the diversity of his influences.

In addition to his music, Lovett has appeared in 12 feature films, including several directed by the highly acclaimed Robert Altman. He was most recently featured in the documentary For the Sake of the Song: The Story of Anderson Fair, a film that explores the significant role the legendary Houston music venue continues to play in preserving American musical traditions.

Lovett began his music career while attending Texas A&M University in the late 1970s, where he graduated with Bachelors’ degrees in journalism and German. From his self-titled debut album in 1986 through 2009’s Natural Forces, each of Lovett’s releases has served as a powerful reminder that he possesses one of the most distinctive voices in music.
