Black Cake Productions brings this one-woman play based on the writing of Emily Dickinson to Duluth. For nearly two years, Sinda Nichols has been performing The Belle of Amherst for audiences in Florida, Ireland and beyond. Her performance as one of the world's greatest poets takes the audience on an journey over 40 years.
William Luce's play weaving together letters and poems won Julie Harris a Tony Award in 1977. In the play, the audience joins Emily in her parlor as she relives the greatest joys and deepest sorrows of her life. The performance, directed by Ron Kurtz, is in two acts with one intermission and has a running time of two hours.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Duluth Public Library.
